On Saturday September 24, the Société Nautique de Genève hosted the 50th edition of the BCGE Tour du Léman à l’Aviron. The “MaMi and the Papis” team from BONNER RV / CLEVER RC / RTK GERMANIA KOELN / STUTTGART-CANSTATTER won this anniversary edition in a variety of weather conditions.

Geneva, September 25, 2022 – After 160 kilometers and 11 hours 52 minutes and 20 seconds, the “MaMi and the Papis” team has arrived in Geneva. She beat her rival “Atzen und Opas” – LUDWIGSHAFENER RUDERVEREIN / KARLSRUHER RUDERVEREINWIKING / STUTTGART-CANNSTATTER RUDERCLUB / BONNER RV – by one hour, four minutes and 18 seconds.

A fine performance worthy of the feat for the “MaMi and the Papis” team: ” It was pretty tough in the middle of the race,” said one of the team members at the finish. ” It’s a great event, we love it and come back every year,” said Christian Maus, who was one of last year’s winners along with Mathias Auer and Henning Osthoff.

The start took place in light rain and a rather calm lake. Weather conditions were very changeable throughout the regatta, going from calm to rough on several zones. A thunderstorm broke out in the early evening, shortly before the arrival of the big winners, but the regatta went on until the end.

For this anniversary edition, a special prize was awarded: the President’s Prize. This prize rewards the best time between Lausanne and Le Bouveret in the Men’s, Women’s and Mixed categories. The winning team, “MaMi and the Papis”, also took the Men’s President’s prize, while “Little Ladies of the Lake” – THAMES VALLEY SKIFF CLUB / RV DE LAAK / RV PAMPUS / SN GENÈVE – and “KCfW” – KÖLNER CLUB FÜR WASSERSPORT / MÜLHEIMER WASSERSPORT EV / WASSERFREUNDE HEMMOORE. V. / CLEVER RC – take the Women’s and Mixed awards, respectively.

In the women’s elite category, “Rowheart” – ROWING CLUB LAUSANNE/UN YVERDON – was the winning team, while “KCfW” – KÖLNER CLUB FÜR WASSERSPORT / MÜLHEIMER WASSERSPORT EV / WASSERFREUNDE HEMMOORE – was the runner-up. V. / CLEVER RC – in the Mixed category. In the Novice category, “RKS” – RUDERCLUB KLEINMACHNOW-STANSDORF -TELTOW E.V. – was the first team to arrive, and in the Masters category it was “ORVO les soixantes” – OLDENBURGER RUDERVEREIN.

I’m very happy that we were able to complete the Tour for this 50th edition, which was really the objective,” declared Stéphane Trachsler, President of the Organizing Committee. ” The weather conditions were made difficult by the rain and wind; however, the first finishers came within ten minutes of the record of 11:43:30, which is a great performance!

This year’s edition featured a total of 26 crews, almost twice as many as last year, and we hope to continue this trend next year!
