Geneva, September 21, 2022 – Next weekend will see the BCGE Tour du Léman à l’Aviron, an extreme rowing event over a distance of 160 kilometers, which will exceptionally bring together 27 crews for the 50th edition of the event, almost double the number from last year.

The teams will set off from the Société Nautique de Genève at 8 a.m. sharp on an uninterrupted, unassisted course around Lake Geneva. This year’s participants include four all-female teams, last year’s winners Bernard Gerbeau, who is preparing for the Pacific crossing, and Astrid Schmid, who is preparing for the Atlantic crossing for the second time. Competitors come from Switzerland, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain.

This 50th edition is all the more special in that the event welcomes a new partner, the Banque Cantonale de Genève (BCGE).

We’re looking forward to celebrating this 50th anniversary,” says Stéphane Trachsler, Chairman of the Organizing Committee. ” The arrival of a new partner like BCGE, and the increase in the number of crews this year, promise a great birthday party for the BCGE Tour du Léman à l’Aviron!
